'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Nigel Pearson takes Saints job.

Pearson is the new Saints boss today, after Chairman Leon Crouch acted swiftly after the Cup exit.

Nigel Pearson has much coaching experience at Stoke, West Brom, Newcastle and England U21.

Jason Dodd and John Gorman will stay on the backroom staff, and they are 100% behind the appointment.

His first Experience of manager was with Carlisle and somehow kept them up, against all odds! He has much coaching experience but this is his biggest job yet.

He was Big Sam's number 2 at Newcastle and was part of the England Under 21 Coaching team that beat Ireland 3-0 at St.Mary's this month.

This no doubt is a HUGE gamble, but one Crouch said he had to make.

I have always thought he was called Nigel Pearson, rather than Neil.

This kind of gamble is acceptable at the start of the season. Its fair to give someone like this a chance. Fans will be worried, Players will be worried, i am worried

Changed it for you Saint.
The Fear
Interesting gamble. Was a top player, highly respected in his day. Still considered a good coach but can he work the oracle here? Still seems a cheap cop out with Dowie & Adams available.

a gamble we had to take! i don't think we're in a position to take any gamble.we should have told scotland to wait until the end of the season or was it just that we couldn't afford to pay george until then? the sad fact is this board came in promising us how much they would bring to the club but instead have made this club the laughing stock of the south coast.we actually had a good side last season which only needed strenghening in 2 or 3 positions to be contending for an automatic promotion this season, thats the sort of gamble they should have taken!.so when we finaly got ride of rupert making all of the decisions we get lumbered with the rest of toy town.so as a saints fan, when are you going to stop making us the laughing stock for that lot down the road that lot down and do some good for this club?

I thought something was strange the way he resigned from the toon a short while back. Now you wont take this the real way i mean it Im Sure because ive popped over here for rew occassions to deride your Scummer club, but in all honesty i am starting to feel quite sorry for you, because you are really starting to mimic Pompey as they fell through the divisions like a stone in the mid 70's. Obviously I cheered on Rovers on the tele, just as you would have cheered PNE., But you were so poor, so bad..and now look like you are going down again,Ironically Just as we are heading for European football hopefully. But now i find my self worrying about you guys. but still find myself unable to actually give you any support
plymouth graham
looks like pearson will have a job on just to keep you up.
mick66owl
what was the crowd against plymouth. what did crowd make of appointment??
mick66owl
The crowd where behind the manager, but are fustrated at the players. Only 12,000 season ticket stubs taken, despite having 16,000 season ticket holders.
saint spud
Speaking as someone who's uncle is a Saints season ticket holder, I hope he's as succesful for you as he was a great leader for us! Let's hope we both stay up....at the expense of that other red and white striped team just over the other side of Sheffield!!
