Doncaster 0-2 Southampton

Doncaster 0-2 Southampton

Southampton picked up a much-needed win on Saturday as they beat Doncaster 2-0 at The Keepmoat Stadium.

The hosts almost took an early lead through Jason Price but his effort was saved by Southampton 'keeper Kelvin Davis. Stern John (14) then had to limp off to be replaced by Tomas Pekhart, which was a blow for the guests. However Pekhart was only denied an immediate impact by a save from Neil Sullivan in the Doncaster goal. Davis then denied Darren Byfield at the other end as the sides went in level at the break.

David McGoldrick's effort early in the second half was deflected into his own net by Matt Mills (50) as the away side took the lead and this was doubled, with victory secured, shortly after when Andrew Surman (58) converted from the spot.
