'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Holmes Hungry for United

Saints winger Lee Holmes has an added incentive to re-gain fitness - to play against Manchester United. The 21 year old has been out with a fatal knee injury picked up against Queens Park Rangers, way back in September.

The ex-Derby man is thought to be only two weeks away from training, with the tasty thought of playing against the Champions League holders giving the youngster another reason to get back in the team.

'I'd love to play in that one,' he said to saintsfc.co.uk. 'I watched the draw on telly and I was buzzing when the balls came out of the hat. All the lads feel the same way, and it's what you want as a footballer - to be playing against the best."

Holmes has played seven times for the Saints this season, scoring twice and he has become a fans favourite when establishing himself within the side.

Holmes has revealed his eagerness to get back into the team: 'When it comes to Saturday you don't know what to do with yourself,' he said. 'I'm not a good watcher. I think any footballer will tell you that. I've been in the stands at St. Mary's and the boys have been playing some entertaining stuff, but when you watch them play you just want to be out there yourself.'
