'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Burnley 3 - 2 Southampton

Burnley's three goals in 11 eleven minutes, one a Chris Perry own goal and two from Joey Gudjonsson, shell shocked the young Saints on a wet and windy Lancashire day.

Southampton manager Jan Poortvliet must have had strong words with his side, as the Saints made a real fight of it. Goals from Rudi Skacel and Andrew Surman made an exciting and tense end at Turf Moor.
