Saeijs Does Matter!

Manager Jan Poortvliet has bolstered the Saints defence by signing Jan-Paul Saeijs. Saeijs (pronounced size) stands high above the rest being 6ft 3inches, and Poortvliet feels that with his height and experience the young Saints defence can learn a lot from the Dutchman.

The 30 year old comes from Dutch top flight side Roda JC and he is known for his strength and ball winning skills. Taking into account that Wayne Thomas and Michael Svensson are long term absentees, bringing in a defender was a necessity and Saeijs could fit that bill.

Subject to acceptance by the league, Saeijs could feature in Southampton's trip to Barnsley tomorrow.

Hopefully he is better than what we've currently got. We need a big figure at the back and hopefully Saeijs can be that!

He played very well - maybe he is exactly what we need...size! He certainly fits the bill and hopefully he can stay fit and pull the youngsters through.
