Poortvliet Praises Saganowski

Saints boss Jan Poortvliet declares that having Marek Saganowski back in the squad will help Saints as they aim to climb up the table.

The Dutchman told the official site that he has a lot of confidence in the Polish international: 'I am confident that Saganowski will put some balls in the back of the net and I hope he will do it on Saturday,' Poortvliet said. 'He is back now and has looked very good in training this week.'

Saganowski played his first game for the Saints since coming back from a loan spell with Aalborg, in the 1-0 win at Barnsley last Saturday.

'He never let the team down and worked hard against Barnsley, but he was out of action for three months beforehand and perhaps it was one game too soon.' Poortvliet said.

The 30 year old looks certain to retain his place up front for the Saints when they play a crucial six pointer against Doncaster Rovers tomorrow. Poortvliet is optimistic with his new strike force: 'Saganowski s a real centre forward with experience and he knows what the game is about,' Poortvliet continued. 'He works hard in front of goal. David McGoldrick is also a very good centre forward but comes out of that position more frequently and goes to the left or right, whereas Saganowski stays in the middle.'

Saganowski was a fans favourite with the red half of Hampshire, and the Polish international will be looking to please the home fans with his first goal of the season tomorrow.

Saga in - Rudi out? It woudl be great f they both played - for one game at least!

Good player is Marek - knows where the goal is and has a habit of wanting to prove the doubters wrong. From what I hear he may be drafted in to give McGoldrick a kick up the rear in terms of workrate to boot!
