Saints' fans losing faith

Saints' fans losing faith

Following a record low gate of just 13,257 at the Sheffield United game on Tuesday night, more alarming figures have been revealed.

Saints' average attendance is down by 22% on 2007/08, according to statistics shown in The Daily Echo.

In addition to this, out of the 24 teams in The Championship last season, Saints have lost more fans than any other team.

Whilst the current stadium average for this season is 16,661 compared to 21,253 for last season, the fact that Saints' fans appear to be voting with their feet is a growing concern.

With so many problems both on and off the field at St Mary's, it's clear for all to see that some fans have simply had enough.

For attendances to improve, a change in fortunes on the pitch is a MUST! We've shown we have a good fanbase, with sell-out games in recent years for Southend and Sheffield United. If we pushed ourselves up the league then I have no doubt in my mind that the fans would return. Obviously the economic climate is having an impact, whilst the return of Lowe is also keeping people away. It's so frustrating seeing St Mary's half empty all the time, but on the other hand, you can understand people's reasons for staying away.

Can't really blame them can you! One home win all season...disgusting.
