'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Quashie Committed And Fired Up

Club captain Nigel Quashie has stated clearly that he is committed to Southampton and that he has no plans to leave in the January transfer window.

The midfielder told the official site: 'I said that I wanted to stay - there was talk of me going but I think the way that I'm playing shows that I want to be here. There isn't any doubt in my mind about wanting to leave or be anywhere else. I am delighted to be here and to help this side get back to where they want to be. I want to be part of that.'

Quashie has also stoked the fire telling league leaders Sheffield United and Reading that Southampton still aim to secure automatic promotion even though The Saints are currently 16 points behind second place Reading!

He asked 'The season isn't over, is it? How many games left, almost 30? All credit to Neil Warnock and Steve Coppell but personally I don't think Reading are anywhere near what we are and that's a fact. When we played Reading we played them off the park. I think a lot of teams that have played us this year would probably say we are the best team they have played. Good luck to those bobbing about near second but we will be there or thereabouts.'

Fighting talk. Just got to hope it translates itself into action on the pitch.
