FA look into pitch invasion

Southampton could face further punishment from the Football authorities following Saturday's pitch invasion.

The final whistle in the 2-2 draw with Burnley sparked ugly scenes at St. Mary's with hundreds of Saints fans invading the pitch to confront the travelling fans.

The Saints were handed a ten point penalty on Thursday, and emotions were high at St. Mary's, resulting in angered fans.

Joint administrator Mark Fry said: 'Our main concern at the moment has to be the appeal.

'As far as the pitch invasion is concerned, I am not condoning it but after the announcement on Thursday of the points deduction, emotions were bound to be running high.

'I just hope they don't punish us for that as well because the club has to find a buyer and any further threat of punishment will not help us to do that.'

Southampton are just weeks away from going out of business if they cannot find a buyer for the Hampshire club, and the ugly end to Saturday's game could not have helped the advertisement of the club.

cant say that the arrival of police dogs really helped calm the situation.

Hmm...reminds of the seventies in reverse, we were goigbust in the old 3rd division-on our way to the 4th, and our Pompey Boot Boys running amok across the country. All the while you lot were in the top division, or winning the fa cup- I know we were both in div 2 then-or losing the league cup etc.

I actually don't want you to keep going down, it reduces the chances of us beating you! League two at the lowest, if you'll even still be a team in a seasons time...

The FA always seem to kick you when you are down, it would not surprise me if they doocked you futher points to take effect from the beginning of next season, just to really shove the knife in.

ohhh. More points to be deducted. Unlikely on this, more likely if you try & appeal the original 10!

Minus 50 pionts should ensure instant relegation on day 1 of the new League One season. What a laugh!
