Royals chase Surman

Reading are favourites to sign Southampton starlet Andrew Surman.

Southampton have accepted that their prized asset won't want to play League One football next season.

The Saints now look to sell the England Under-21 to help resolve their financial situation.

Reading have expressed their interest for Surman in previous years, but the local boy showed his loyalty to the Saints.

Surman also generated Premiership interest. The likes of Everton, Aston Villa, Stoke and Fulham were all weighing up a bid for the midfielder.

However, Steve Coppell is confident that he can tempt Surman to the Madejski Stadium to boost his squad for what could be playing Premiership football next season.

It's going to be so sad to see Surman go, but that is the harsh reality of League One football. I'm sure that the likes of Surman, Lallana, Davis and Saeijs are being eyed up by teams from the Champ and Prem. I just prey that they stay at St. Mary's.

sorry abe the only one of the four you mentioned with any chance of staying is Saeijs and that will depend if we can pay he pittance that we have already agrred with his parent club. Lallana will go to Fullam and Davis is out of contract (probably go to Newcastle )

Yes doomed to relegation and before you are cold and in the first division the vultures are circling and those that did nothing all season dont want to stop and put things right that they caused. I hope you return better and stronger.
