King Kev linked with Southampton job

Kevin Keegan could be making a shock return to the south coast to manage Southampton FC.

The Pinnacle group, who are in talks regarding the sale of the club have held a meeting with the ex-England and Newcastle boss.

The consortium, fronted by Saints legend Matthew Le Tissier have had a three week exclusivity deal which ends tomorrow, and it seems that Keegan is their prime target to manager the club next season.

Keegan is a fans favourite in the red side of Hampshire, after spending two years with the Saints in the 80's before moving to Newcastle.

I'd be over the moon if Keegan comes to rescue us. When I saw this this morning my jaw hit the floor!! I doubt it'll happen, but this could be the silver lining for the Saints.

Something cliched... followed by the clause, then he ran away!

In your situation ask yourself - is he right for the job?
Nellup
He probably knows the same about L1 football as Mark Wotte. The difference is that Keegan will create a buzz around the city and club and you need that when you are in a dire situation (-10). Gates will be bigger and the players will be up for every match with Keegan in charge. I know what you mean Nellup, and Keegan isn't my favored candidate, but there are worse people to have...

I'd love to see someone like Keegan come in and change the spirits of the lads. I'm not saying Wotte is a bad manager, or bad motivator it's just Keegan would instantly change things because of who he is.

If anyone can get Southampton climbing back up the divisions to the Premiership it's Kevin Keegan. As a City fan I can remind you he dragged City up from where you are now back into the Prem and did it with his unique inspirational style. He is brilliant if he is given the time and space to do it his own way. What that waste of space Ashley did to him up at the Toon was scandalous. Get him in and in three years you'll be scrapping for promotion to the Premiership in the Playoffs! I'd love it!

Exciting times! Cheers for that Sindbad, I really just want pen to paper now. King Kev to take us up. I'm pinching myself!!!

I just don't know! He has no experience at lower league clubs, always needs funds for new players, doesn't use Youth, and will pack up and go as soon as a better club comes available! Yes, the buzz if he came back would be absolutely fantastic, yes he is one of my childhood heroes, but I just don't know if I want him as manager!!
