League arrange meeting with Saints
The Football League have arranged a meeting with Southampton FC on Monday to discuss the takeover of the Hampshire club.
It was thought that an agreement would have been made yesterday when the Pinnacle group, fronted by Matt Le Tissier saw their three week exclusivity deal expire.
However, the consortium felt that they had a strong case to fight the ten point penalty the club have to start on next season after going into administration.
The League have to agree for the points to be erased if the Pinnacle group are able to takeover the south coast outfit.
With this, a dramatic meeting has been called on Monday to resolve the situation at St. Mary's.
Mark Fry, joint administrator reveals his frustration at this difficult time at Southampton: 'There are a number of very small issues that remain but the principle one of which is the Football League situation.' He told the Daily Echo.
'They have agreed to have an emergency meeting on Monday but until any bidder can be satisfied about membership of the League they won't complete a purchase of the club.'
