Thomas too costly for Saints

Thomas too costly for Saints

Wayne Thomas could be departing St. Mary's this summer after Mark Wotte revealed that the centre back is too expensive for League One.

The 30-year-old was snapped up back ex-Saints boss George Burley and joined the Saints from Burnley in a deal worth £1.2 million in August 2007.

And current manager Mark Wotte was impressed with how the strong centre half bounced back after missing most of last season due to injury.

Nonetheless, the Dutchman understands that Thomas is too much for League One, with reports stating that the Gloucester born player is on £8,000 a week.

I've never been a fan of Thomas, but he would be good in L1. BUT, he's too expensive, and in my opinion he won't be missed.
