Jaidi deal collapses

Jaidi deal collapses

Southampton's aim to sign centre back Radhi Jaidi has collapsed today.

The 33-year-old had passed a medical and agreed personal terms with the south coast outfit, but the Tunisian international was not granted a work permit.

Alan Pardew had made the commanding defender his number one target this summer, but with just two days before the opening game of the season against Millwall, it looks like the Saints will miss out on Jaidi's services.

The experienced centre back was released by Premier League new boys Birmingham City this summer after playing 86 times for the Blues.

I'm Gutted!!!! Bloody work permit. It's so frustrating that he passes the medical and agrees personal terms - so he wants to play here! AND he's been playing in England for the past 5 odd years. You just watch some PL or Champ side get a work permit for him next week...

Noooooo, so frustrating. I'm so puzzled about this permit? Why hasn't he been granted one? He's played in England for years! Can someone explain to me why he has been denied the permit??!?!
