Jaidi set to become a Saint

Radhi Jaidi has joined Southampton on a two-year contract, subject to the former Birmingham defender obtaining a work permit.

Alan Pardew has had his eyes on Jaidi since he was released by Premier League new boys Birmingham City.

Jaidi, 34, was set to join the Saints weeks ago, but was denied a work permit.

However, the Tunisian has accepted the deal with Southampton and is confident that a work permit will be granted.

Jaidi told the club's official website: 'The first thing for me is the fact that Southampton is a big club and I have known that ever since I came to England.

'As soon as I was given the opportunity to come here I accepted because I know this club has a big infrastructure.

'I think I can add strength and experience to the team, and that's what I will bring to help us reach our targets.'

Great signing if it goes through! I've been really disappointed with Thomas' start to the season, so I'd love to see Jaidi in a Saints shirt. COYR!
