'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Newboy Puncheon Is Rated Highly

Southampton Football Club captain has been delighted by the skill shown by Jason Puncheon. A new signing along with others in January, Jason has shown enough to make captain Dean Hammond's mouth water. Playing and training with him has heightened the anticipation for when JP has truly gelled with the rest of the team.
'Punch can play wide and in the middle, and can dribble and shoot' explained the captain. Adding that Punch is quite capable of swapping places with Lallana as and when the opportunity arises. He is looking forward to the pair terrorizing fullbacks once they have settled. He is also waiting with anticipation for Ricky Lambert and Lee Barnard to begin taking advantage of an improving service with Puncheon being able to cross well at pace.
The captain is happy to be returning to action after damaging his achilles tendon. He feels that his injury problems are behind him and is looking forward to the run in to the end of the season. Starting with Walsall tomorrow Dean feels we should start to see a far more lively and attacking formation with goals likely.
Let us all hope that the improving service with Jason in the team does bring more chances which can and will be taken.

If Puncheon has as much skill as Lallana he will surely be a lot more dangerous. He has a bit more pace and a little bit of the devil in him than Adam. I am also looking forward to seeing how we fare tomorrow against Walsall.

Today against Walsall Jason showed us some of his strengths. A superb purchase by the looks of it so far. He worked well across the whole pitch and swapped well with Lallana.
