Why Do We Support The Club We Do

Hi, I am a student and I'm currently doing my dissertation on how commercialisation in footaball is affecting the fans. I recently carried out a number of questionnaires outside St Mary's to get Saints fans views on this topic and from these questionnaires I have a few questions i'd like to ask to get a better understanding on how Saints fans feel on some of these issues. If any of you could take the time to provide some answers and some of your views it would be great help and really appreciated.

1. Why do you buy club merchandise?

2. Why do you continue to attend games despite ever increasing ticket prices?

3. As a fan would you like to have more influence over the running of your club? If yes, what would you like to have a greater influence on?

4. Describe what it is that influences your attachment to your club?

5. Do you believe Sky have had a positive or negative influence on the game? Why?

6. Do you ever feel exploited by your club? If yes, why?

I am a saints fan mainly because that is the team my dad supported. My local team and one that gives me a lot of pleasure. Some grief as well but that is life. I go to games no matter the price because I love my club. my money along with the other fans helps keep us alive. Sometimes I think that it would be good to have more say. Then I think about disagreements about things like players selection and realise that we would have more rows than agreements. So no.

As I have mentioned on a different thread I love the team, club and some of the players because of my dad. He took me to my first game at SMS and now I love the club the same.

I quite like Ricky Lambert's peachy bum. Adam Lallana and Fish Mills are quite fit as well. Blame dad for most of this cos he took me when I was little. Don't go as much now cos I have to work.

Some of these questions are easy to answer because we love the club we spend our hard earned on it. Sky tv is a topic which I inten to do an article about. Suffice to say the money is wasted.

Love is blind. Ask this question to all fans and the questions will have similar answers for each and every club. Maybe with the odd exception like the big four as was
