'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jaidi Hopes To Stay

The big Tunisian centre back came to this country to join Bolton six years ago. He admits that the football came esily enough but the cold climate was a major shock.

Radhi admits he had to learn a new mentality towards his footballing life. He didn't mind playing because he was always able to keep warm during a game through the running around.

'I didn't mind playing because I could run around to keep warm. But as soon as the final whistle went and I crossed that white line, I was the first into the hot shower!' he told the Matchday Programme.

Although he is now in slightly warmer climes on the south coast, Jaidi insists that his training routine remains central to the conditions outside. The 34yo is keen though to prolong his career inthe English game.

He has also started to enjoy the partnership that he is forging with Jose Fonte. Only 6 goals have been conceded in the last ten games and his partnership with Fonte is hugely responsible for the quelling of goals against.

'Right now I feel I have some good years in me left,' he said. Adding that his long term ambitions after hopefully lifting Southampton to higher grounds are to coach. 'That!' he explains 'is something that I hope to do here in England.'

Our big centre back can stay just as long as he maintains such fantastic form for us. His CB pairing has gelled into a magnificent defensive partnership. Long may it last.

Radhi has done well since Jose came. The two of them could be good for us but they need more from the midfield at times.

He has looked good for most of the time that he has been with us. I reckon we can give him another year.

I am glad that Radhi wants to stay with us for a bit longer. He will be good for us and I am sure that as Seaborne gets more games and takes number one slot Radhi will be more than capable of teaching our reserves how to defend.
