'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Southampton FC Legend To Be?

Saturday's hat-trick took the strikers score to thirty for the season. How many more he can score with ten games to go is anybodies guess.

Pardew reckons that Lambert has to take the Saints up to the Premiership and more importantly thinks that he can. If he does manage it he will be able to join a long list of legendary names that played for the Saints.

If we make it back in his time here he will join a list which includes, Matt Le Tissier,
Mick Channon, Terry Paine, Ron Davies, Kevin Keegan and Ted Bates.

Mr Southampton Ted Bates made his name for us as a player and as our manager. He was the man who got us into the top division for the very first time.

Alan Pardew said, 'I can wax lyrical about Rickie but the reason our fans sing his name every week is because they know how important he is to the team. To reach a status alongside the other greats he has to take us through two divisions and he can.'

'For me that would make him as big a legend as some of the big, big names you've had here. The Mick Channons and Kevin Keegans.'

For a manager to wax so lyrically about you must be very gratifying to one Mr R Lambert. Love to see it happen and for Rickie to become a true legend.

I guess if Rickaaaayyyyy can indeed get us up to the Premiership and possibly help us stay there for a while he could become a bit of a hit.

Rickie is already highly popular because of his goals. If he can keep going long enough to get us up to the top he will be another we look upon with fondness.

Ricky is my favoutite player at the moment. He keeps scoring now and will keep on scoring as well.

Long, long way to go, but if he can keep going for another three or four years he has the chance to be one we remember in the future.
