'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Southampton Home To Hartlepool

Southampton host Hartlepool tonight and by all accounts have a relatively routine match in front of them. This is not I hope how the team are feeling.

This season we have failed consistantly to beat those teams which on paper we should have.

We have had to endure a pitch which was only suitable for mud wrestling.

The pitch was like playing on a half sandy half stony beach and not condusive to good football.

The referee had been bought by our opponent or was totally blind and possessed a fanatical hatred for whichever coloured strip we happened to have been wearing.

Excuses keep coming for our inability to beat the lower placed teams. Tonight I pray is not going to be one of those games.

Every time we lose it is because we scored less. that is my reasoning and us women are never wrong trust me. All the tutting in the world won't change that.

Hartlepool gave us one hell of a scrap. They could have got something from the game as well with a couple of really close shaves. Slightly lucky to hang on maybe, but at times we were our usual good passing selves. Our defence struggled at times but did well to hold Hartlepool out.

This was a game that we nearly threw away. we were second best at times in the second half as Hartlepooll searched desperately for an equaliser. Two os our goals came from errors from 'Pools defenders.
