'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Southampton Win First Of Many?

'Great players can go through a career without ever winning anything but Lallana has ticked that box in his CV straightaway and Antonio at only 20.It's brilliant and you can't take that away,' he said. Talking to the Saints Player Alan said, 'You can go through your career and get to lots of finals and not win.

The fact that the team won and won so comfortably could add impetus to the play-off campaign. Pardew also said that the fans have played a massive part in the team's success.

'They've been strong for us and I'd like to thank them for that and the team responded with the right result. It was really all about the result. It wasn't a game that you could get too excited about because we were so comfortable ten minutes from the end.'

So though the game was not full of flowing football the team was pleased with the end product. After all a win is a win and Wembley was not the place to open up too much and find that you had thrown the game away.

A strong disciplined performance was what we had and hopefully what we can expect for the rest of the season. Starting on Thursday we will know whether that will be the case.

If it is we will be very happy bunnies. It would be special if we could make Wembley again this season and gain another victory.

Wembley experience could stand us in good stead if we are lucky enough to make it back there this season. Now that would be good.

We will see what we will see. I think we have a great chance of adding to it in the next couple of seasons. If we were to do it this season it would mean another trip to Wembley. If nort then we would be back next season when we become the first club to win it two years running.

Well if nothing else we learned that nothing much has changed. Play a team like Brighton and in some respects we were lucky to get a point. Forget the playoffs this season.
