'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Rickie Lambert's Perfect Day

The number seven's 32nd goal of the season arrived in front of 44,000 Saints fans. One of the biggest followings that the club has ever had at one ground and one whetting his appetite for more of the same with Saints.

Rickie was so pleased that he was almost lost for words as he tried to explain his feelings. 'It was unbelievable, I can't explain it,' he explained. 'I was trying to run towards the fans but the players wouldn't let me.'

'I knew where my family was as well so I tried to get to them too, but to score in front of 44,000 Saints fans is absolutely brilliant. I felt nervous taking the penalty but was confident that I would score,' he told Saints Player.

This was his first goal at Wembley and he hopes that there will be more to come. It was the club's ambition that persuaded him to come and obviously he is hoping for promotion and the chance to play at a higher level.

Rickie has already passed his highest ever goals in a season tally. He says though that he won't be happy until he has reached thirty league goals in a season.

He also stated how happy he was with the way that things had gone this season. His team mates had helped him considerably and the fans had taken him to their hearts early which helped him to settle into his new job.

Right now Rickie Lambert is one very happy number seven.

There was a lot more than the 44,000 thanking you on Saturday Rickie. I know some who didn't make it because of the cost.
