Adam Lallana Close To Record

Armstrong set his record in the top flight in possibly the best team that has ever played for the Saints.

The 1983/84 season saw Saints finish as runners up to the mighty Liverpool. That season Saints scored a lot of goals and played some excellent football.

David Armstrong has gone down on record saying that a scoring midfielder is worth his weight in gold.Since his stint we have not really had one until now.

Adam Lallana has equalled his total of 19 goals so far this season. There is one game left and Adam needs to find the net just the once to beat the record.

Armstrong feels that the big test for Adam will come when we move up a league. Even next season could be tougher though as we see teams preparing for him as a known entity.

Lallana will be on a lot of teams radar now and he will need to continue the improvement to keep up with his goal scoring.

This summer we are likely to see a club or two make enquiries about his availability. I hope that Adam will stay with us for a good while yet.

He has gone on record as saying he will be here next season. I hope that promotion next time round will be enough to keep him here for longer.

I would love to see him reach the Premiership in a couple of seasons with the Saints. He has shown a lot of potential and this season as he has gained in confidence it has helped him to continue the improvements needed for his future.

Our last game is a home game against Southend. I would like to think that boss Pardew will let him have the chance to score his 20th goal of the season. I know that David Armstrong would be among the first to congratulate him if he manages it.

If he wants to break the record he will have to play a lot better than in the last couple of games where he has been poor.

He needs to find his form quickly if he hopes to score another goal. lately he has been more out than in.

Is it possible that Alan Pardew could drop him from the starting eleven? Maybe have him on the bench at the start to get him more motivated.

If he can do it again next season we will see his value go up a great deal. He loves the club so with luck we will see him in the red and white for years to come.

He duly scored his 20th goal but did leave it very late. Well done Adam and good luck for next season. Hope to see a repeat if possible.
