Southampton Looking For A midfield General

With Saints having released LLoyd James and Simon Gillett this close season we appear to be a bit short of cover in this position.

In the last transfer window we were associated with two or three who could plasy there. Brian Stock of Doncaster being one such player.

Neil Danns of Crystal Palace is another that has been mentioned in association with the Saints.

Chris Lines is also on the we have looked at him lists. He is a player that Rickie Lambert knows and last season scored 11 goals for Rovers.

At the moment we only have the one player with some experience. Our painstakingly slow and ponderous Paul Wotton.

With Paul we know we will always get commitment. Only trouble being, that it is at his pace and that is so slow that he often misses even his late tackles.

Even Andrew Surman has been linked with a return to his first love. Drew only left to help save his boyhood club and would probably jump at such a chance.

Personally I believe he will still be at Molyneux come next season. He is a classy young player and still has time to make his mark.

As for who, I don't have a clue. The only thing to me that matters, is that he must be better than what we already have here at St Mary's.

AP has also got the need to find at least one good right back and cover for Rickie Lambert. In fact having released four players that played in that position you could say it is an urgent necessity.

I suppose sfc will be saying things like "I told you so" because he has been banging on for years about that position.

Giving away the players as we have for that position, AP had better know who he is after.

I can't honestly see AP giving away all those midfielders and not replacing them unless he knows something that we don't.
