Frazer Richardson Out Injured

The right back who has just joined from Charlton was unfortunate enough to do this whilst training.

He had gone to make a headed clearance when he landed awkwardly and did the damage to his shoulder.

The 27 year old was flown back to England immediately where he was able to have a scan. An operation followed which went smoothly so a full recovery is expected.

The unjury as a result of the severity will mean Frazer will be out for up to three months. This the club tells us means he will definitely miss the start of the season.

In fact he could miss ten or more games if the shoulder takes longer. Having just arrived at the club, it is not the sort of start he will have hoped for.

Everyone here wishes you a good and speedy recovery Frazer so we can see you wearing the colours we love.

Yes I'm sure we all echo those sentiments SFC. Actually I was relieved to hear this morning that the injury is a broken collar bone and not a bad dislocation. Seems an odd thing to say but dislocations often have a nasty habit of reoccurring at crucial stages of a season finally resulting in surgery and a lengthy lay-off. Breaks usually heal without leaving a weakness.

Just glad that its not going to be a lengthy absence, and the fact that we have a competent replacement on hand.

It's been pointed out to me the Saints official website says it's a dislocation. My info that it was a broken collar bone was from Radio Solent this morning seems to be wide of the mark.

Like you mox888 I would have prefered a clean break. I have seen a few players with dislocation injuries that were repeatedly occuring and meant they ended up retiring or being a liability. I pray he has a quick and full recovery also. I do believe that their is a shoulder harness that can be worn but not whether it would be effective in such a physical sport.
