Southampton Youngsters At Two Tournaments

Guernsey will be the first tournament and it is for our Under 10's.The saints youngsters will be competing with teams from Everton, Fulham and Rangers amongst others.

The mini-festival will be the largest at junior level and will be held during the 24th and 25th of July.

In total there will be 12 teams playing with 8 local teams playing with the four from our shores.

The Under 18's will then take a trip to Scandinavia in August to compete in the GP Cup. This will last for a week as Saints meet up with seven other sides for the competition.

The teams, 4 from Denmark who will be the host country, 2 from Sweden and Red Bull Salzberg along with the Saints team will be playing in this international competition.

These invitations are a sign of the good work being done at the new 'Football Development Support Centre.'

The Academy Manager Matt Crocker was quick to praise the work done by chairman Nicola Cortese. He said that now with the improvements our youngsters were able to participate in tournaments that were previously out of the clubs reach.

The more we here from the club at the moment the more it seems that we are progressing on all fronts.

Sounds to me as though the Nicola effect has started to work in our favour.
