'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Southampton set to miss out

Southampton's hopes of signing Calum Davenport have been hit by the news his agent, Colin Gordon, says he will not be leaving Tottenham.

It had been reported that he was surplus to requirements at Tottenham and would be allowed to move on for a fee of around £1.5m, with the Saints said to be keen on the player.

Norwich, Watford, Portsmouth and Reading have also been linked with the player, but Gordon has moved quickly to dismiss the rumours.

He insists the player is fully focussed on getting himself in top shape for next season for the London-based club.

'It is rubbish to suggest Calum has been told he can leave. He has not been told anything and he is one of four central defenders at Tottenham,' said Gordon.

'Calum is just concentrating on pre-season training and he is looking forward to the new season.'

Be fair.. Spurs or Saints? the only common denominator is the 2 clubs start with the letter S. He would never make a move Out of the Prem with the quality he has. Im a Pompey fan, but wish you lot no harm. Weve been there, and so appreciate its more difficult in Championship than Premiership. Some of these top Class players, would not be able to handle the Championship. Top class yes, but get kicked around the park week after week no chance. I hope you get back to the prem, and the derbys can resume, we need clubs on the southcoast in the same league and get a bit of banter going. As long as we finish above you i wish you well. However, i doubt the players you will attract will be likes of calum.

Spurs or Saints??????? Thats a tough choice :P

Hes a top player and will get beter so a move down south would be 1 step backwards or maybe about ten! i reckon he end up been loaned out again to a championship team.Come an join the tigers on Loan!
