Southampton After A Week With Nigel
He told Saints Player, It's always very challenging when you haven't had your own pre-season and get all your ideas across. I have fresh ideas of how I want things done, but I have to drip it in slowly so that the players are comfortable doing it.'
'Practice makes permanent, if we can get the right practice in then these things will become permanent,' he added.
Nigel Adkins has been with the club for one and a half weeks and has said that he has learnt a lot. He said he has learnt a lot of good things and some things that have to be improved upon.
Nigel has managed to have one on ones with the players which is important as it will help him with understanding each player's needs.
Nigel says that these meetings enable him to judge what the player needs from him and what he needs to provide that player.
He has said that he has worked nicely with Rickie Lambert and Lee Barnard along with a couple of the younger players. They worked on link-up play.
There was a hint of phsycology invoved in my opinion which showed as he said that he told the players that a missed chance means by the law of averages that you are closer to scoring a goal.
I may be blinded with the hope that our new manager is a good thing but I feel a lot of positives emanating from each interview that Nigel gives.
