'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Southampton Protegy Martin Ready To Return

The youngster who turned 21 on the day was quietly pleased with his performance. In his first appearance since getting his back injury he was pleased to see that the team had managed to keep a clean sheet.

Though he felt that he was a little below par he also felt that he had a good game and was pleased to get back on the pitch after the three weeks away from the action.

Nigel Adkins was there to watch and Aaron is hoping that he did enough to warrant a recall to the first team for our next match.

He admitted that he was excited by the prospect of Bournemouth playing at St Mary's and felt that it is a big game.

'It's a massive game on Saturday,' he told the OS, 'a bit of a derby too, so it would be brilliant to play in it and I'm sure there will be a lot of fans there, which will make it a nice game to be part of.'

Martin Hunter was impressed enough to back Aaron for the Cherries visit after putting in a talismanic performance against Brighton.

Accordingly he said that Aaron makes a big difference for us and is a good organiser. He is getting better and better all the time he said adding that the youngster is a born leader.

I like Aaron and can easily see him coming into the team on Saturday and maybe rejoining Jose Fonte as our centre back pairing.
