Southampton Sign Richard Chaplow On Loan

This will be the second spell for Richard at Southampton after he had spent three months here during the 2005/06 season, when still registered with West Bromwich Albion.

During that spell with us he played eleven games and scored once in a match at Brighton.

This looks like a good move by manager Nigel Adkins as Dean Hammond is on four bookings and Morgan Schneiderlin is on three. Paul Wotton is out also with a minor injury.

Talking about Richard, Nigel said that he was an exceptional talent and is a quality midfielder.

Judging by what was said it is a possibility that Chaplow could stay here longer. If he does it will be interesting to see who loses out. My bet is that Dean Hammond will be the first to lose his place in the team.

It is also possible that he is fit enough to play in our next match against the Reds From The West, Bournemouth.

He is a high action type of player and could possibly be the answer to our midfield problems.

Welcome to SMS Richard and we hope that you have a good stay with us.

As he has been here before I think he will get on ok wih us fans. He was popular when here and I am looking forward to seeing him play.

If this is a signing that Nigel has arranged it is a bloomin good start as he tries to sort our side out.
