Talking to Saints Player Nigel told us how he was going back to how he has won promotion twice from this division.
He stressed the importance of winning the games where you are expected to win but can drop valuable points. He felt that Tranmere was one such game.
He was pleased with the way the team has begun to play the way he wants them to. Again he stressed the need to play quick passes and where possible to search for telling passes rather than passing for the sake of it.
The improvement is there for us all to see and the rest will come he told us. Nigel said though that though pleased with the performance the team wasn't ruthless enough with the chances created.
The keeper made some good saves but we did miss the target a lot. He was pleased with the way the defencive side of play is going and was delighted to get another clean sheet.
Rickie Lambert got a mention and Nigel is pleased with the improving performances as Rickie regains total fitness. He forced the keeper to make a great save and hit the bar which bodes well for the future as some of these will start going in soon.
Guly do Prado got a special mention as Nigel said how talented Guly is. He was pleased with his workrate and was happy to see him showing his skill.
For someone who is still struggling with our language he appears to be settling in well and Nigel admitted that he is very pleased with him. Only bringing him off because of cramp which is down to his need like a few of the team to improve his fitness.
Myself I really believe we have got so much talent in the squad now that teams will be really scared when they meet us. The options we are now possessing seem to be growing by the week.
With Rickie, Adam Lallana and Guly fully fit I think we will be a handfull for most teams. The defence is getting stronger by the game and we are starting to look like a real team.
Long may it last.
