Saints U21's v Fulham Report

Staplewood was the scene for the closed doors encounter as Martin Hunter's side gained yet another impressive win.

With Frazer Richardson, Radhi Jaidi and Paul Wotton all getting much needed run-outs this game was a highly competitive affair.

After a period of increasing pressure the Saints side made the breakthrough with Alex Chamberlain scoring on 25 minutes.

Lee Holmes ws able to pick out Ben Reeves with a good cross and Ben's smashed onto the crossbar before bouncing out to Alex Chamberlain who cooly guided the ball home.

paul Wotton came close soon after with a fierce shot from outside of the box before it was keeper Bartosz Bialkowski earning his corn. Alow shot fron Andy Johnsonhad his goalbound shot saved low down by the keeper.

Tunisian Radhi Jaidi saw out the first 45 minutes as he began his recovery from injury and he was replaced by Ryan Tafazolli, as the teams came out for the start of the second half.

Just after the re-start Bart was again in action as he made two fingertip saves to keep his goal intact.

Saints made the visitors pay for the misses by scoring a second shortly after. Ben Reeves put Ryan Doble through on goal and he duly smashed the ball home at the near post giving the keeper no chance.

Doble then turned provider as the game ran out of time but Reeves smashed his shot off target.

After the game Martin Hunter said that he thought this was the team's best performance so far this season. He was pleased with the overall performance and that the fact was that if we got into trouble, it was down to our own mistakes rather than the opposition tearing us wide open.

Another good day at the office which is heartening.
