Southampton Hopeful Rickie Can Play

Rickie has been able to get out on the training ground and every day had his trianing intensified. He has been out with the team and trained and according to Nigel Adkins has looked good in the process.

He has stitches in his head and they will stay there till after the game. If selected he will have a bandage to help protect the injury.

It is not only his head that is a problem though as apparently Rickie also has a few little issues which the club is trying to address with regard minor injuties that he is carrying.

Nigel Adkins has said that Rickie is a big player for us and that across his career the big Liverpudlian has started slowly each season.

He always comes good and we fully expect him to do so again this tiome round. He has already shown some sign of a return to form and hopefully if he plays he will bag a goal or two.

Another player who is now pushing for a place is Frazer Richardson. Our right back got injured during pre-season training and has yet to appear for the first team.

After another full 90 minutes in midweek for the development squad he will be nearing peak fitness and it will be interesting to see whether he will soon be getting a game.

Today we have Oldham at home and this is a game where we could net another three points, whether Rickie Lambert starts or not.

Seeing that Rickie is still carrying some minor niggles explains quite a lot to me.
