We already have Adam Lallana and now we have more youngsters pushing for a breakthrough into the first team.
Pick of the crop at the moment must be Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who is a seventeen year old with a glittering future in front of him if he can maintain the rate of progress that he has shown so far.
On Saturday against Oldham he produced a couple of truly magnificent moments of magic. The first gave us the lead against the spirited opposition. The second nearly brought the house down as he so nearly gave us the most memorable moment of the season so far.
Picking the ball up near the halfway line he produced a great run leaving defenders in his wake before unleashing a shot which hit the inside of the post and bounced out to safety.
After the game Alex spoke modestly about the role that he had played in helping the Saints to the win.
Talking to the Saints Player he said about the manager, 'he told me to come on and run at people, be a big impact, that's what I tried to do, and hopefully the goal proved that I did.'
'More importantly it was a big goal for the team as it was the winning one to get us three points, but on a personal note I'm really pleased to get my first league goal.
As a fan it is really great to have the youngsters showing so much promise and it is with some anticipation that I await the appearance of the finished article.
