Rickie Lambert Ready To Start Firing

Last season Rickie was our top scorer and he improved throughout the season.Like this season he had a fairly slow start until catching fire and this season has again seen a slow start.

He has admitted that his main requirement now is that of confidence. He is happy that he is now fully fit and has been pleased with his workrate.

Lambert speaking to the OS said, 'at the start of the season people were looking at me to score the goals, so I knew the expectations, and I'd like to say that it didn't bother me.'

'That's not why my form wasn't as I'd hoped it would be, I think it was my fitness wasn't one hundred percent, and it showed in my performances.'

Rickie also said that it always seems he starts slowly and improves throughout the season as he gets stronger and fitter.

For me this is a problem because if you know you are always like this why don't you do something to alter the way you start pre-season.

Talking about today he did say that he is happy with the way he worked and only needs a little more confidence for the goals to start going in regularly.

The majority of Saints fans will be pleased if he can start scoring regularly as it takes the pressure off of the rest of the team.

Some still think he is below par but I still reckon he will hit the thirty mark again this season. If he does then we know that we are going to be well up the table and who knows going up to the CCC.

If our Rickie finds his shooting boots we will surely be on the march once again. Can't wait to see him start doing it on Tuesday.
