Southampton Loan Puncheon To Millwall

Jason Puncheon arrived and showed a willingness to deliver that gradually seemed to wane.

He has proven to be a player with a lot of talent but one that does not always produce the desired end product.

It is still somewhat of a shock as it appears on paper to leave us a bit thin in the right midfield department.

Millwall are currently languishing in a lowly 17th place in the Championship after they have had several members of their team receive injuries.

Reading between the lines it looks as though Jason could now be on the way out. Nigel Adkins has already stated that he is unhappy with some of the squad's players and maybe Jason is one of them.

Two ways to look at this and one is that Jason has gone and we won't see him in our colours again.

The other is that our club may be hoping that this loan will re-awaken his appetite to make him the player we had when first joining saints.

Whatever the outcome I wish Jason good fortune for the future.

Hopefully they will be able to teach Jason not to lean back when he shoots. It's his only weakness that I can see but a consistent one.

I am disappointed with how Jason has progressed since last season. He seems to have lost interest since he knew Oxo was on the horizon and maybe this move will help to re-ignite his desire.

If he has gone for good I don't think we will miss him that much. Not unless OXO gets injured. Nigel Adkins wouldn't have let him go if he was an important member and had a future with us I suspect.

I for one am pleased that Jason is leaving. Last season he was fantastic but this season he looks completely out of sorts. Give Alex a chance and at some stage maybe Lee Holmes on the left switching Adam to the right.
