'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Charlton v Saints Off

I find it increasingly annoying that decisions like this are left to the very last minute before being made.

If the game was in doubt then it should have been postponed yesterday or at the very latest early this morning before the fans had left to go to London.

We are in a recession and the authorities don't seem to give two hoots as to whether the football supporter can afford the luxury of wasting time and money on chasing a fools errand.

Not that it is just saints fans who suffer. Far from it. South coast teams have long trips throughout the season but so too do the clubs up in the north of the country.

So the time is ripe for someone to say enough. Sort this mess out and give the fans a break.

Even if it means extending the season to accomodate the backlog someone has to have the power to make this happen.

A lot of people keep asking for a break in mid season, but in our experience the weather has no such thoughts. Bad weather can hit at any time and often does.

So why not simply tell the clubs that if in doubt call the game of early.

Failure to do so will turn the football supporter against the game or at least can. Especially when money is tight.

So wake up and sort this persistant failure out so that fans don't keep on suffering.

No fan wants to keep travelling on a Tuesday or Wednesday night but early postponement has to be the norm rather than the mess fans all over the country now find.

I agree that games should be called off a lot earlier. Though if both managers wanted to play I can't see why there was a problem.
