'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Southampton Sign Jonathan Forte

The Sheffield born 24 year old was originally signed in 2007 when Nigel was manager of Scunthorpe.

He is predominently a winger but can also play inside as a striker and will add to our options as we strive for promotion from the npower league to the Championship.

He has spent some time on loan and whilst at Doncaster helped them win the Johnstone's Paint Trophy by scoring their first goal in the final.

We wish you good fortune Jonathan and hope you enjoy your stay with us.

Must admit I am not overwhelmed. Is JF gonna be a squad player or will he be able to push for a starting place? Is he here as cover for the wings or will he be fighting with N'Guessan for a place on the bench?

I'm not either. Bit of a come down after all of the talk about the players we were supposedly after. Hope it is only because we are going to spend in the summer.

We was told we would be buying and that we had funds. Not impressed. Hope Nigel knows what he doing as we have to get promoted if 5 year plan is to be kept on shedule.

I don't think it is as simple as that. Reading between the lines I imagine Nigel had a couple of names that he wanted and either the bids were rebuffed or the players went elsewhere. We have brought in two speedy wingers which should help us make chances for our strikers.
