David scored the late equaliser in Saturday`s dramatic 2-1 win at Brighton which was such an enormously important strike for us.
After that he started for the first time in over seven months in Monday`s 2-0 success over Hartlepool, in our starting eleven.
Nothing has been discussed yet with regards to a new contract, but Connolly revealed he would be open to coming back next season - providing Saints want him.
This could be good news as he is a fully experienced striker and he still has that element of class.
If he can maintain his fitness I see no reason why we can't sign him up on some sort of contract where he gets paid if fit to play.
Guess we will have to wait and see how the last three games go before the decision is made by the club as to whether to offer a contract.
I am hopeful that we might just get a decent season from him and that would have to be a good thing for the team and for us fans.
Time will tell.
Vital Southampton is always looking for some people who can write articles on the club from a different angle, or for simply writing match reports.
