'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Adkins: We could have got all three points

Southampton manager Nigel Adkins feels his side did enough to take all three points after the 1-1 draw at Pride Park.

Speaking to Saints Player he said: 'We are in the Championship, there to be shot at, we've come away from home and we've come away with a good point. We could have got three, should have got three, but we got a point.'

Rickie Lambert's 11th goal of the season was enough to earn Saints a point, which keeps them at the top of the table, but Adkins declared that his side always go out to win.

'We want to win every game of football and we've come away to a team who could have gone level with us, so they've had a good start to the campaign, and we've got no divine right to win every game but that's what we're striving to do.'
