Adkins: Peterborough game was a 'training match.'
Southampton manager Nigel Adkins believes Tuesday's 2-1 home win over Peterborough was like a 'training match' after the away side went down to 10 men.
Richard Chaplow and Jos Hooiveld put the league leaders ahead, before Lee Frecklington received a second yellow to give Posh a mountain to climb.
With the Saints having won their last 16 league home games in a row, you would have thought playing against 10 men, that they would have been out of sight.
But Adkins told the Daily Echo that the match felt like a training exercise - and that his side did play as well as they could have.
'Maybe the game was just like a training match at times.'
Adkins admits that his side did not perform to the best of their ability, but the Saints boss was happy with the three points.
'We didn`t pass the ball quick enough, we are all well aware of that.
'We needed to move the ball a lot quicker but it`s three points, 19 straight wins at home and we keep marching on.'
