Nigel Adkins Relishing Foxes Game

After going until the last game of the year undefeated at home he hopes that the Leicester game will see us start with a win and against good quality opposition.

Talking on Saints Player he said, 'we are relishing the test. We have had two good away wins and now we return to St Mary's with a fantastic support base.

'I went to watch Nottingham Forest vs Leicester in midweek and Leicester did very well the other night and Jermaine Beckford scored a good hat-trick. He is a big money signing that they have brought in who it is fair to say hasn't been firing on all cylinders but he scored a good hat-trick.'

The fact that we have managed to get two wins away from home in our last two matches is something that gives us hope for seeing our blip in form ending.

Two poor teams maybe, but all you can do is perform to your best with whoever you play.

ermaine Beckford could prove dangerous but he can only perform if we allow him the time and space to do so.

Nigel went on to say, 'We have been on top of the tree for four months now, which is really pleasing. You would expect West Ham to beat Nottingham Forest on Saturday so there is every realisation that we probably won't be on top come Monday's game, but that isn't an issue.'

Knowing how Nigel seems capable of keeping the pressures at bay, I can visualise the team firing on all cylinders come Monday night.

The game also marks a first return to St. Mary's on the touchline for Foxes boss Nigel Pearson, and Adkins is looking forward to renewing acquaintances with the former Saints manager.

Nigel Pearson was popular when at Southampton and should get a warm welcome from our fans. When he was not allowed to stay there were howls of displeasure from many of our fans and he has shown he knows how to get teams to win since leaving.

Whilst a warm welcome is expected I don't expect him to take the three points back with him to Leicester.
