Saints could be knocked off top

Saints could be knocked off top

Southampton could slip down to second place today, and there is nothing they can do about it.

The Hampshire side have occupied top spot since the 4-1 victory of Birmingham way back on September 18.

Having led the race at the top of the Championship for five months, the Saints could find themselves in second place this evening.

West Ham host Nottingham Forest this afternoon and a win or draw for the Hammers will see the London club occupy first place for the first time this season.

Nigel Adkins' side host Leicester City on Monday night, and the Saints will have to wait until then before they attempt to potentially retain first place.
