'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sharp Aims To Fire Saints To Promotion

The striker believes the squad is more than capable of challenging for promotion, and knows that he has a tough job on his hands to push his way into the side in order to realise his top flight ambitions.

He told Saints Player: 'We have a great chance now. Everyone knows that I want to play there, and I and really looking forward to this challenge of getting this big club get there.'

'It is going to be tough to get into the team, because they are doing well and are in second position. When you look down the squad list there is a lot of talented players here, but I will work hard and get my head down and hopefully get in the team.'

He added that he hadn't signed to get away from the events of his recent past and felt that the time was right for him to make the move.

He has worked with Nigel Adkins and Andy Crosby before during his time at Scunthorpe and said how he had enjoyed playing for them.

He also mentioned Saints talisman Rickie Lambert saying how he has been chasing him all season trying to score as many as him but he always seemed to score when Billy did.

He is looking forward to forming a lethal partnership with Rickie and hopes that both of them can continue banging in the goals with Saints now having a sharp cutting edge.
