Bale withdrawn

Saints wonder kid Gareth Bale has been withdrawn from the Welsh Under 21's squad because of a thigh injury which he aggravated during Saturday's game with West Brom. With Saints having little cover at left back Bale was withdrawn as a precaution and to prevent further injury.

Woodward To Return To Rugby?

Southampton Director Of Football Sir Clive Woodward has emerged as a strong candidate to fill the new vacancy as the RFU's Director of Elite Rugby. It was revealed last week that Woodward was wanted along with Newcastle Falcons' coach Rob Andrew.

Burley Wants More

Saints Manager George Burley has revealed that Saints' summer signings may not be over. With Saints short of cover in both the left back and centre back positions Burley could be looking to bring in a couple more players. He told The Daily Echo:

'We haven't got the biggest squad in the world. We've talked to clubs about one or two players on loan and we'll continue to do that.'

Christopher Katongo a Zambian striker has arrived at St Marys for a trial.
