'If It's Football, It's Vital'

2 Saints In nPower Team Of The Week

Southampton striker Rickie Lambert would not be a surprise inclusion after his third hat-trick was achieved against Watford on Saturday.

He was joined in the team by right back Danny Butterfield who was returning from an injury picked up early season and it was his cross which led to the opening Lambert goal.

Brighton & Hove Albion striker Ashley Barnes was picked as the strike partner of Lambert. The hit man was in top form as he found the net twice in a 3-0 victory over Ipswich Town.

The midfield was made up with Lloyd Dyer and Neil Danns of Leicester, Millwall's Josh Wright, and Thomas Ince of Blacpool.

Plenty of goals there with Barnes scoring once, Wright once and Ince twice. The Wright goal was a stunning long range volley.

Alongside Butterfield at the centre of defence we see two players from relegation haunted teams. Richard Keogh of Coventry, and Jason Pearce of Portsmouth were selected for their superb resilience shown in helping their clubs keep clean sheets.

Ian Harte has seen a lot of football and he again showed how deadly his free-kicks can be. He was chosen as left back.

The final place went to Crystal Palace keeper Julian Speroni who made some superb saves to keep his team in the game.
