Makin Joins On At St Marys

Makin Joins On At St Marys

Saints have swooped to sign Reading defender Chris Makin on a two year deal. He has signed on a free transfer.

The defender, who was part of Reading's successful promotion season had found his chances limited at the Madejski Stadium.

The signing provides some much needed cover to a Saints defence which sees Claus Lundekvam ruled out long term and Pele and Gareth Bale struggling with thigh injuries.

The much travelled defender who even spent a year in France with Marseille is familiar with Burley's coaching methods after he was signed by Burley for Ipswich for 1.4 million pounds from Sunderland.

Burley told the Saints official site:

'Chris can play across the back four, he's a good experienced pro and will give us a bit of leadership on the pitch as well. I know Chris well from his time at Ipswich and he will give us that strength that we need.'
