Rickie Lambert - Championship Player Of The Year

Rickie Lambert - Championship Player Of The Year

The Saints' top scorer has enjoyed a spectacular debut season in the second tier of English football. He has been taking the division by storm with 21 league goals, and is a major factor in the push Nigel Adkins' side are making in their bid for promotion this season.

Being the leading scorer for Saints would normally be enough but in Rickie we have a man who is of far more importance to us than that. This will be his third year as top scorer on the trot but his work rate involving himself in the build up play makes him a far more effectual and important player.

When we gained promotion doubters were saying that Rickie would struggle as he had never produced the form shown previously in the championship. Being 30 years old and a novice was asking too much of him they said.

ell Rickie has knocked the doubters into submission and is to date ahead of his total reached at the same point last season. He already has a promotion winning medal and Johnson's Paint Trophy winning medal with us and he is determined to help us get more silverware by gaining promotion to the top league in our country.

His form has been so consistent that many fans are suggesting he gets a crack at playing for England. That may not be as stupid an idea as it sounds as Rickie continues to baffle and beat his doubters. Hopefully his form will remain and we will make his dream come true.
