Adkins Pleased With Effort & Attitude

Nigel Adkins has praised the effort and attitude of the team following today's 2-2 draw with Portsmouth.

Speaking to saintsfc after the game, the manager admitted he was disappointed to see them draw level, but he was pleased with how we kept going.

'It was a passionate derby game, Billy Sharp scored two good goals and there were some fearsome tackles going in, to one of which we have lost Morgan Schneiderlin in the first couple of minutes. It's a special game that is dedicated to the supporters, we are aware of that and everyone here worked really hard because we wanted the supporters to go away with smiles on their faces.'

It might not have been the three points we wanted, but it's another valuable point and lifts us back to the top of the table.

'It's one point gained on what we had and it puts us top of the league. We sit at the top and we are there on merit, we will put this game to bed, we aren't going to feel sorry for ourselves, we move onto the next one.'
