Future Is In Our Hands

Nigel Adkins has said Southampton's future remains in our hands after the disappointment of not securing automatic promotion today.

Speaking to saintsfc Adkins was humble about Reading's success, wishing them the best for clinching the title today.

'Congratulations to Reading, they've just gone and won the division and that's what we wanted to do. What we've got to do now is make sure we get promoted. We can do that next Saturday, our destiny is in our hands. If we win it we get promoted and that's all our focus has got to be.'

The match certainly could've turned out differently, and Adkins has his own thoughts on the performance of the referee.

'(Hines tackle on Lallana) It was a big turning point it's fair to say, but the referee's made the decision and you've got to accept it.'

Adkins adds that he hasn't bothered speaking to the referee as there is no point, but he did think we were well on top until that happened but as ever, he wants to move on and make sure we get things right for the final game against Coventry.
